Don't forget Locals - which is a youtube/facebook/Patreon type forum, (I was there before SubStack). And it's been kept pretty free overall, insofar as speech and keeping your audience. AND you can share with the wider world, as well. The more they squeeze the more things will slip through their fingers, just like the old 80's song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFUi8Wa03hc

I've heard of Locals but not investigated much. My concern at first glance is that from the front page it gives off very political or sociopolitical vibes and might not be as inviting to people interested in other topics. On Substack, they recommend me to people that like similar interests. I'd be worried Locals might recommend me to people outside of my niche because they didn't have enough creators in that space.

You do have to do some searching to find folks (Mine is DigitalArtLearning)..But there are some there. But, again, it's mainly to have a toe in somewhere else, in case things go sideways on your current platforms. Rumble is the same way. Used to be only Political/sociopolitical, and it's building up now with writers and artists and gamers, bit by bit.
