I killed my business on purpose
Sometimes you have to do the hard things in order to make other things easier
I used to have a digital assets website called SPRLTV.com (don’t go there, it’s dead—maybe it will be fixed by the time you see this).
That business was less than a year old and in that very short time, I got completely overwhelmed by it, not because it was overwhelming, but because I had WAY too many fingers in far too many pies.
Last month I had a small, nervous breakdown. I was doing too much and not making enough return from any of it. It took me to a breaking point where I was having horrific dreams that I won’t repeat to anyone.
Something had to change
I took a good look at myself and realized I was doing too much. Without thinking twice, I killed off the SPRLTV website and all the social media accounts.
Now I’m focused completely on making more digital and traditional art and how I can share my experience and wisdom on that topic.
What to do with all these digital assets and tools?
Am I just supposed to keep them in storage and never let anyone else use them? That doesn’t seem right or fair.
I’ve also been trying to figure out a way to bring more people into the fold of Substack/newsletter, so why not do that here?
Starting today, I’m going to be giving my digital assets away so my paid members. For as little as $60 for the year (that may change eventually), I’ll be dropping new assets into the feed at random.
Most of the time, it will be images for backgrounds and textures because I love taking pictures of cool things and sharing them. Other times, it will be tools I’ve made in different apps to help workflow or create things (brushes, macros/actions, textures, etc.)
As a teaser and a thank you, I’m giving the first few assets away to everyone, and if you want more, then you know what to do. You know what they say about giving the first one away for free, right?
I promise, if you subscribe, I’ll make it worth your while. Heck, I’ll even sweeten the deal. Join today and get 20% off the 1-year price. That’s a whole year of digital goodies for $47!
Just to clarify, I will not be sending out a new email every single time I decide to drop a new digital asset in your lap—not gonna be that guy. However, it means you will need to come over to my feed on Substack in order to get them. I’ll also link them in the twice-monthly supply crate emails for paid members.
No sense in these things going to waste, and I hope that you’ll use them and make something fun and cool. If you do, please tag me on your posts, or just drop me a note.
Enjoy the freebie and I’ll see you next time.
